One of my greatest pleasures is to apply my artistic sensibility to websites. I design graphics and layouts with an artistic eye, and I write content with a clear, educated voice.

When I design websites, I work to achieve a balance between beauty and simplicity. With this goal in mind, I examine each component as a tessera in a mosaic. In other words, each aspect of a site must fit appropriately within the whole.

I'm also a poet. My goal in poetry is to convey depth in simple terms. In order to do this, I scrutinize each word and pare excess language. One of my poems, "Mandala," might be a successful product of this technique. It was published in the latest issue of Turning Wheel, which is a Buddhist magazine with an international distribution.

My greatest influences are the T'ang poets and George Oppen.

Bagatelle Records

For this site, my goal was to do something innovative and fun. The highlight of the site is, in my opinion, the navigation, which was original work done specifically for Bagatelle Records. The work also included a caricature of the client for Twitter.

Gay U.S.A.

I wanted create something striking for what I expect to be a hugely important film. The project also included a mobile version of the site. Head over to Awwwards to see that Gay U.S.A. was featured on March 28, 2011.

Next Saturday

I was extraordinarily happy to see that this theme was featured on Tumblr.

As of August 4, 2011, over 28,000 people have installed this theme on Tumblr. It became a WordPress.com theme on August 4, 2011 and was featured here. Thank you so much, Tumblr and WordPress!

The client required a larger and more flexible site for the future of Gay U.S.A. I decided to go with a minimalist approach and add hints of texture.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Icons

This is a tribute to my childhood hero, Raphael. My plan is to complete the series of four iOS icons in my free time. I, of course, don't own the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle franchise and wasn't hired to do this work.

Recycle Media & COA

I worked on the designs, XHTML, CSS, and jQuery for Creative Outdoor Advertising (COA) and a division of the company called Recycle Media. For Recycle Media, I wanted the texture in the sky to suggest recycled paper.

What's different about Web Designs by Ian Mintz?

Even so-called minutiae are important to me. All components—images, content and code—get a close look. If something isn't perfect, then I'll do my best to perfect it.
I can write the content. Most web designers don't offer a copywriting service, but I do.
I can make it easy for you to update. I'm capable of building a custom Wordpress theme so that it's easy to update content on your page.
My websites are cross-browser compatible. This means that your site will be tested until it functions beautifully in the major browsers: Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari and Internet Explorer 6+.
All of my code is validated. If you'd like to learn about the importance of validation, visit this page.
Search engines will know that your site exists. I write the code so that search engines can effectively crawl your site. Remember, however, that high rankings take time to establish.
Finally, I care. Your site represents your vision. I understand the necessity of a quality page.
